This morning was probably one of the most eventful of this year. It quickly surpassed the events of E3 Expo as well as both Sony and Microsoft's reveal events, but this one gave us insights and more detail as what to expect this fall. Holding both strong conferences, Sony and Microsoft took to stage to let us know what to expect, what to hold onto, and what both of their consoles will be truly capable of hosting when they come to our doors as well as what their key launch titles are. In host we've also gotten to see some of the upcoming projects coming out of the doors and this is where many of us in the gaming community are beyond excited. For now lets do a quick recap of what we saw from Microsoft's keynote's from GamesCom.

XBox One GamesCom

From multiple sources we have a confirmed list of what we can see and expect from XBox One as a launch title, however please not that release plans can change before this fall wraps around. XBox One exclusive are always good news and they are highlighted with an asterisk beside them. From what we know Fighter within may be an exclusive, but that can change.
  • Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag (Ubisoft, Ubisoft)
  • Battlefield 4 (DICE, Electronic Arts)
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts (Infinity Ward, Activision)
  • Crimson Dragon (Grounding/Land Ho!, Microsoft Studios)*
  • Dead Rising 3 (Capcom Vancouver, Microsoft)*
  • FIFA 14 (EA Sports, Electronic Arts)
  • Fighter Within (AMA Ltd., Ubisoft)**
  • Forza Motorsport 5 (Turn 10 Studios, Microsoft Studios)*
  • Just Dance 2014 (Ubisoft Paris, Ubisoft)
  • Killer Instinct (Double Helix, Microsoft Studios)*
  • LEGO Marvel Super Heroes (TT Games, Warner Bros. Interactive)
  • Lococycle (Twisted Pixel, Microsoft Studios)*
  • Madden NFL 25 (EA Sports, Electronic Arts)
  • NBA 2K14 (Visual Concepts, 2K Sports)
  • NBA LIVE 14 (EA Sports, Electronic Arts)
  • Need for Speed: Rivals (Ghost Games, Electronic Arts)
  • Peggle 2 (Popcap, Electronic Arts)
  • Powerstar Golf (Zoe Mode, Microsoft Studios)*
  • Ryse: Son of Rome (Crytek, Microsoft Studios)*
  • Skylanders: Swap Force (Vicarious Visions, Activision)
  • Watch Dogs (Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft)
  • Zoo Tycoon (Frontier Developments Ltd., Microsoft Studios)*
  • Zumba Fitness: World Party (Zoë Mode, Majesco)
With this news many people are in truth seeing a heightened value in the XBox One's price zone, however for those gamer's who are on a lower budget, this should be enough to win them over. With it we've also had great news about upcoming content for the once thought to be a Pay-To-Unlock title Killer Instinct has actually got release bundles announced!  For Killer Instinct according to Game Informer Microsoft has planned out two bundles. One of them being The Combo Breaker bundle comes with the six launch characters, all the stages, and training mode for 19.99 USD. Then of course the other being much like a collectors edition known as the Ultra Combo pack comes with the six launch characters, two post launch characters, even more stages, character accessory packs, additional costumes, and the original Killer Instinct game in all it's original glory. This bundle will run most players around 39.99 USD with local taxes applied. We have yet to hear if Titanfall will have any Collectors Edition or have yet to see new press release news regarding Disney's Fantasia: Music Evolved (click here for my Q&A with Project Lead Director Daniel Sussman of Harmonix) for XBox 360 and XBox One set to launch in 2014. With the Microsoft announcements we have yet to see a solid release date yet. However we can say, Kinect Sports Rivals will be amazing from all the footage out there.

Microsoft was also quick to show off the new entry to the Fable Saga - Fable Legends. Fable Legends is not quite an MMO as many have may witnessed at the reveal. Instead we have seen a full fledged trailer outlining what we can expect. A four person co-operative title that allows players to interact and change their kingdoms at their will. It also will allow for players who are not in groups to see others as they wander around and from the likes of it. It seems the players will be able to create their character, making the fable truly and once and for all - theirs. For a full bit of coverage check out Game Informers articles regarding it - Fable Legends at Game Informer

With this news Microsoft has also announced that they will be releasing a special Call of Duty: Ghosts bundle in the United Kingdom that will come with a digital copy of the game as well as added bonus content. We can only be rest assured that it will include the season pass and or

Sony Computer Entertainment

When it comes to Sony, we as a community can never expect anything less than mind blowing, and they delivered early this morning. Their coverage didn't focus just on their PlayStation 4, but also their PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita as well. Let alone they focused on the PlayStation Network as well! First off before I get to the release date we'll cover the announcements that were made by them at GamesCom. This morning Sony came out with GearBox's Randy Pitchford with what none of us were expecting- Borderlands 2 for Vita. This move has many of us curious to how such a graphically high demanding game with all the downloadable content will handle on the Vita due to the memory card limitations of the PS Vita (for the Sony Article regarding this - Borderlands 2 Vita).

Another great announcement has been the rebirth of many upcoming titles, including Shadows of the Beast a title that has only been seen when it originally came out on Commodore Amiga. All we know is it's there, that it exists, and will be coming out on PlayStation 4. We also saw news that the Sony PlayStation Vita has taken a price cut down to 200 USD, giving it a bit more of an affordable price range, and hopefully this will help the flagship handheld by SCE. While Microsoft has a strong hand in the indie game market we've seen a few more worthwhile announcements come out of the shoot on Sony's live feed of GamesCom. Here's a few to sweeten the pot to show their want to help indie developers.

Games that will  be arriving on PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Vita next year:
  • Rogue Legacy
  • The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (Free to PS Plus members)
  • N++
  • Volume (new title by the developer of Thomas Was Alone)
  • Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number
While some of these titles have been out for some time, it still strengthens their stance on indie development and overall will possibly put the PlayStation 4 in a very powerful stance against the XBox One (for a very thorough coverage of the XBox One Indie read - Mike Futter's article regarding XBox One Indie Support).

Sony Entertainment also has announced much like having PlayStation Home that the PS4 will come with a pre-loaded AR like title called PlayStation Playroom. To the extent of a free goof off title, it looks fun, silly, and of course what's better than watching a virtual fire start on your head while UFO's run into it on screen? Sony has also announced that By the end of December, that they will have 33 titles available for PS4. Some of these include:

  • NBA 2K14
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts
  • Skylanders Swap Force
  • Need for Speed: Rivals
  • Battlefield 4, Madden 25
  • FIFA 14, NBA Live
  • Killzone: Shadow Fall
  • DRIVECLUB, Knack
  • Assassins Creed IV Black Flag
  • Watch_Dogs
  • Just Dance 201
  • Lego Marvel Super Heroes.

So far Sony has not strayed from strengthening their cause and their blog since it has so much news it'll take a few days to sift through it all and truly get some solid content out, but all we can say. So far they have stolen the show and made GamesCom 2013 theirs for the taking. Hopefully with their having announced over one million PlayStation 4's sold and pre-ordered to date we will see a huge celebration for it as it's welcomed to our houses on November the 15th, 2013. Just in time for the holidays. Stay tuned as more information comes out. We're sure Sony's official blog will keep us busy.
